Serious crash, Aloomba (near Gordonvale): Police are investigating a serious single vehicle crash on Barbagallo Road. Information was received just after 9am that a vehicle had crashed. The female driver and children passenger escaped injury.  A male passenger, believed to be in his 50s, has been airlifted to the Cairns Base Hospital in a critical condition. There are no further details at this stage.

Driving charges, Townsville: Police charged a 19-year-old Townsville woman with numerous driving offences after she was allegedly failed to stop for police last night. At 12.30am police tried to intercept a car on Eyre Street, North Ward in Townsville. The driver allegedly failed to stop and police discontinued their attempt for safety reasons. The vehicle was located a short time later after being involved in a single vehicle traffic crash. A woman, the alleged driver of the car, was located at the scene. She was not suffering any injuries from the crash. She is due to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court today charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing, failing to supply a specimen of blood, dangerous driving, evading police and unlicensed driving.

Armed robbery charges, Edmonton: A 16-year-old boy will be dealt with under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act in relation to an attempted armed robbery of a service station in March this year. It will be alleged the boy entered the service station on the Bruce Highway at Edmonton armed with a knife which he allegedly used to threaten staff before leaving empty handed.

Taxi stolen, Lawnton:  Police are looking for a man who assaulted a taxi driver then took his taxi yesterday morning. The man hailed the taxi in Fortitude Valley at 2.15 yesterday morning and asked to be taken to Caboolture.  He got out of the taxi on Uhlmann Road to get money. When he got back into the taxi he assaulted the driver causing a small cut to his head. The driver got out of the taxi and the man got into the driver’s seat and drove off. The taxi was located in Lipscombe Road, Deception Bay later that morning. The offender is described as being Caucasian, 177cm tall, blonde hair and a proportionate build.
