Suspicious death, Burleigh Heads: A 36-year-old man is currently assisting police with their inquiries after the body of a woman was found in a Burleigh Heads home this morning. Police were called to the residence on Sirec Way about 1.30am where they located the woman, believed to be aged in her 40s, deceased. A crime scene has been declared while investigations are undertaken at the scene.
Fatal crash, The Leap (Mackay): A 26-year-old man died this morning as a result of injuries sustained in a single vehicle crash about 20km north of Mackay early yesterday. The man was travelling north on the Bruce Highway, The Leap in his four-wheel-drive about 4am yesterday when his vehicle left the road and struck several trees. He was cut from the vehicle by fire and rescue officers and was taken to Mackay Base Hospital in a critical condition. The man passed away about 3.20am today. Fatal crash, Silkstone (Ipswich): South Station Road at Silkstone was closed for a number of hours yesterday after a man was killed in a single vehicle crash about 1.30pm. The man, aged 67, was travelling south when it appears he lost control of his car for an unknown reason and crashed into a power pole at the intersection with Auld Street. The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
Pedestrian killed, Buderim: A 17-year-old male was killed after being run over by a car on Golf Links Drive at Buderim about 12.40am today. The man suffered severe head injuries and was transported to Nambour Hospital where he later died. The female driver of the car remained at the scene and has been assisting police with the investigation however she has not been charged. The circumstances surrounding the crash are being investigated by the Forensic Crash Unit. House fire, Mansfield: The cause of a fire that destroyed a house on Lorinya Street, Mansfield overnight is yet to be determined. The residents of the home were awoken by smoke alarms about 1.20am and managed to escape the house unharmed before the flames took over. The scene is being guarded until investigators can access the building during daylight hours to determine if there are any suspicious circumstances.
