Four teens charged over alleged school vandalism - Corinda

Police have charged three 14-year-old boys and a 16-year-old boy in relation to an alleged vandalism and stealing spree at Corinda State School over a number of days during the school holidays.

Police were first called to the school on Cliveden Avenue on October 1 in relation to a break and enter at the canteen over the weekend of September 26 to 27. Nothing was stolen during the incident however graffiti was located on the outside of the building.

Also reported to police at that time was the alleged break and enter and vandalism of a classroom in D Block in the early hours of October 1.

It is alleged the offenders gained entry though a window and have then poured liquid over computers, poured red paint over the floors and a television, scratched graffiti into the whiteboard and stole a quantity of property.

Police were again called to the school on October 3 after classrooms in D and F Blocks were broken into and extensive damage caused.

It is alleged the offenders poured soft drink on computers and the floor, scratched graffiti into the whiteboard, cut open bean bags and emptied the beans on the floor and pushed over bookcases and other furniture.

It is alleged the offenders also gained entry to the school canteen and stole a quantity of food, then attended the groundskeeper’s shed and stole an electric scooter.

A scenes of crime officer who attended the scene during the morning of October 3 entered the groundskeeper’s shed and allegedly located a 14-year-old boy.

As a result of investigations, police have charged four teenage boys with a total of 36 offences, including 17 counts of entering premises and committing indictable offences, and 12 counts of wilful damage.

Of the 36 charges, one boy, 14, was charged with 12 offences; another 14-year-old was charged with nine offences; the third 14-year-old is facing four charges; and the 16-year-old has been charged with 11 offences.

All four have been bailed to appear in Richlands Magistrates Court on October 7.

Investigations into the incidents are ongoing.
