Grievous bodily harm, Townsville: Townsville police are searching for a group of four or five men who seriously assaulted a man in his Annandale home early this morning. Around 2am a 34-year-old local woman and two teenage males were walking in Lolworth Court when they came across a group of men. A verbal argument ensued between the parties which quickly escalated into a physical confrontation, resulting in the two teenagers receiving minor injuries. The trio returned to a nearby residence followed by the group of males. A 42-year-old male resident went to the front door where he was struck by an unknown object, causing him to fall to the ground, at which time he was repeatedly hit. The group then proceeded to smash two large windows at the front of the house and the windscreen of a car parked in the driveway before fleeing. The man sustained a head injury, fractured arm and numerous abrasions and was transported to Townsville General Hospital for treatment and has subsequently been released. The men were not known to the victims prior to this incident and are described as aged between 18 and early 20's, slim to proportionate builds, one was Caucasian with short bleached blonde hair and the others were possibly Pacific Islander in appearance with short dark hair. All of the men were wearing shorts and singlets. Police investigations are continuing. Robbery with Violence, Cairns: A 28-year-old man was attacked and robbed by two youths in Cairns early this morning. The man was walking home about 5am when he was approached by two youths on bicycles who demanded cigarettes. When he refused the man was punched and knocked to the ground before being kicked repeatedly. The duo has then searched the man's pockets taking his wallet, cigarettes, lighter and two mobile phones. They have also demanded a PIN number for one of his cards and have kicked him until he complied. The youths have then fled on their bikes with the cash and other property in an unknown direction. The man suffered minor injuries in the attack and has walked home before calling police. The youths are described as both having dark complexions, about 15 to 16 years of age, one was described as being of a large build and the other skinny with the larger youth wearing a purple hooded jumper and board shorts. Police investigations are continuing.
