Update – bushfires, Mt Archer: Around 9.20 this morning police revoked the emergency situation which had been declared for the Mt Archer bushfires. The declaration had been in place since 2.55pm on Saturday. Police will continue to monitor and assess the situation. Police urge residents in the area to continue to regularly monitor updates issued by the Department of Community Safety (media releases) and the QFRS Rural Operations website at www.ruralfire.qld.gov.au or at www.fire.qld.gov.au. Residents should also monitor local radio stations for updates. Investigations into the alleged deliberate lighting of fires is continuing.
Stealing charges, Mount Isa: Police have charged two men after they allegedly stole copper slabs from a Mount Isa mine site on October 19. The men were allegedly disturbed in the process of removing the slabs by mine security. The men, aged 36 and 43 were charged with one count each of stealing, and are due to appear in the Mount Isa Magistrate Court on November 2.
