Morning round-up second edition
Serious crash, Bellmere: Two women were taken to hospital last night after they were hit by a vehicle on Kendall Road at Bellmere. Preliminary investigations indicate that the two Bellmere woman aged 18 and 17 were walking with three others around 8pm when a vehicle crashed into them as it went around a right bend in the road. The 18-year-old woman hit the bonnet and windscreen of the vehicle, which allegedly continued on for approximately 10 meters before stopping and the woman fell off. The second woman was struck by the vehicle and was thrown onto the footpath. It is alleged the driver of the vehicle left the scene before police arrived. The women were taken to the Caboolture Hospital and were treated for injuries including spinal injuries to the 18-year-old and cuts and abrasions to the 17-year-old. The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and a 17-year-old Bellmere woman is assisting police with their inquiries.
Sudden death, Nudgee: A 35-year-old man died around 6.30 this morning after he was hit by a truck on the northbound lanes of the Gateway Motorway at Nudgee. There were delays on the motorway until around 9am to allow for the removal of the vehicle involved. Investigations are continuing however preliminary investigations indicate the incident is non-suspicious.
