Update - fatal crash, Tin Can Bay: Two Gympie women, aged 21 and 18, died and a third, aged 18, was airlifted to hospital after a three vehicle crash on Tin Can Bay Road about 12.55pm yesterday. The three women were all occupants of hatch back which collided with a prime mover carrying timber. Another car was also involved in the collision. The occupants, two men aged 41, received superficial injuries. The truck driver, a 45-year-old man, sustained cuts, abrasions and a suspected back injury. The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the cause of the crash.
Shed fire, East Palmerston: Police are investigating a fire at a farm on Pullom Road at East Palmerston, near Innisfail, yesterday. Initial investigations indicate the fire started in a machinery shed. Damage was caused to a significant amount of property. Police have guarded the scene overnight and scientific officers will be conducting a scene examination today.
