Common Assault, Mackay: Police are appealing for witnesses to an alleged assault of a seven year old boy in Mackay yesterday evening. At about 7.30pm a man has allegedly approached the boy from behind while he was riding his bike on Barber Drive and lifted him off his bike. Friends of the boy have called out and the man has put the boy down and fled the area in an unknown direction. In particular police would like to speak to the occupants of a white Landrover utility with a silver flat tray and big tyres that was seen in the area as they may have witnessed the offence. Anyone with information should contact the Mackay police station or Crime Stoppers.
Armed Robbery, Runaway Bay: A man has robbed a liquor store on the corner of Lae Drive and Oxley Avenue at Runaway Bay last night. Police were called around 9pm and were told a man entered the store and showed the shop attendant a knife. The man demanded cash and the attendant complied. The man fled the store on foot south on Oxley Avenue. The man is described as being Caucasian, in his late 20s, and approximately 175cm tall. He was wearing a grey long sleeved hooded jumper, a black cap with a black shirt around the lower portion of his face and white shoes.
Serious Assault, Coolangatta: Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault on an 18-year-old man in Coolangatta last night. The man was found in Dutton Street around 11pm. He had sustained serious head injuries and was taken to the Gold Coast Hospital ICU for treatment. It is believed that the man has been assaulted. Anyone who may have witnessed the assault is urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
