Morning Round-up

Serious assault police, Bundaberg: A man has been charged with the assault of a police officer following an incident in Bundaberg yesterday morning. About 11.35 police attended a disturbance at an address on Branyan Street. It is alleged that on the arrival of police a man was attempting to leave the address in a car and ignored police directions to stop. It is alleged the man drove toward an officer and that the front of the vehicle hit the officer’s legs but did not knock him over. It is alleged that a struggle then followed as the officer entered the car, took the keys from the ignition and threw them from the car. It is alleged during the struggle that the officer was punched a number of times. The assaulted officer then managed to get the offender out of the vehicle and arrest him. The victim officer attended the Bundaberg Base Hospital for treatment. A 53-year-old Bundaberg man is due to the Bundaberg Magistrates Court on November 16 on two counts of serious assault police.

Serious crash, Toowoomba: A 14-year-old Toowoomba girl has been airlifted to the Mater Children’s Hospital with life threatening head injuries following a crash yesterday.
