Attempted robbery with violence, Nundah: A 17-year-old man is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today charged with attempted robbery with violence. Around 9.42pm last evening a 21-year-old man was walking from the Centro Shopping Centre to the Toombul Railway Station when he was approached near the entrance to the railway station. It is alleged that the man grabbed his arm and demanded his wallet and phone and when he refused to hand them over the man allegedly threw a large rock at him. The rock missed and he was able to break free and run back towards the shopping centre and call police. Police patrols in the area located the man a short time later.
Fatal crash, Apple Tree Creek, near Childers: A 31-year-old Childers woman died this morning and two children were medivaced to Bundaberg Base Hospital following a single vehicle rollover at Apple Tree Creek. Around 7.55am the southbound vehicle was traveling on the Bruce Highway when it crashed near the intersection of the Bruce and Isis highways. The female driver died at the scene and two male passengers, two boys aged under 5, were flown to Bundaberg Base Hospital with serious injuries; one child was subsequently transferred to the Royal Children’s Hospital. The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
Drug laboratory and explosives found, Wolvi (near Gympie): A Wolvi property owner made a surprise discovery yesterday afternoon whilst ‘slashing’ rugged bush land near the boundary of his rural property. Around 1pm the man was clearing land when he located what appeared to be some type of explosive. Police from Gympie attended the property, inspected and secured it until the arrival today of officers from the Illicit Laboratory Investigation Team (ILIT) and Explosive Ordinance Response Team (EORT). Investigations by ILIT officers revealed a large clandestine drug laboratory, which included glassware and chemicals, used in the production of methyl-amphetamines. EORT officers recovered two sticks of explosives and fuse wire, which have now been removed from the property. Officers from Gympie CIB are investigating.
Homicide extradition: A 30-year-old Maryborough woman will be extradited from Armidale, New South Wales to Brisbane. She is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow charged with murder and interfere with a corpse. The charges relate to the alleged murder of 33-year-old Maryborough man Noel Allan Clark.
