Vehicle impound auction, Ipswich
The public has a chance to grab a bargain on Tuesday, November 10, when 15 vehicles and four motorbikes go up for auction.
The public auction is part of the Government’s hooning legislation, aimed at seizing the vehicles of repeat offenders.
The vehicles have been seized by police in relation to a variety of offences including driving unregistered and uninsured vehicles, unlicensed or disqualified driving, drink driving, failing to supply breath tests or driving while under a 24-hour suspension and driving illegally modified vehicles.
Police across the Ipswich District have adopted a zero-tolerance approach when it comes to people who continue to break the law and put the lives of other road users at risk.
Inspector David Preston of Ipswich District said he was disappointed to see the number of vehicles impounded.
“The number of vehicles impounded suggests that a minority of motorists continue to flout the law and place others at risk of harm.
“Since August 2008 Ipswich Police District has auctioned over one hundred impounded vehicles. Many more offenders have had their name and vehicles flagged on the police computer system, QPRIME and if offenders continue to commit further like offences their vehicles will be impounded,” Inspector Preston said.
Vehicles up for auction have either been ordered by a Magistrate to become the property of the State or failed to be collected by their owners and have been administratively forfeited to the State.
Vehicles will be auctioned on Tuesday November 10, 2009 commencing at 10am at Blue Star Towing, 13 Sonia Crt, Raceview.
Inspection of vehicles is permitted one hour prior to the commencement of the auction at the holding yard. No inspections will be permitted prior to this time.
Additional information in relation to the vehicles being sold at this auction will be available in the Public Notice section of the Queensland Police Service website www.police.qld.gov.au
Any inquiries regarding these vehicles are to be directed to the Goodna Station Property Office on (07) 34362999.
