Assault police, Brighton: A police officer received serious injuries to his face and required five stitches to his forehead after an incident in Speight Street at Brighton around 4.50pm yesterday. Officers were investigating a traffic incident when a male driver allegedly became violent towards them punching one of the officers in the head, causing him to fall to the ground and striking his head on a concrete wall. The man was eventually restrained by police and has been charged with serious assault police, drink driving and two counts of obstruct police. A 21-year-old Brighton man is due to appear in the Sandgate Magistrates Court on November 18. The male officer was transported to St Andrews Hospital where he received treatment for facial injuries before being released.

Armed robbery, Gladstone: Gladstone police are searching for two armed men who robbed a convenience store in Dawson Road last evening. Around 10.25pm the men, armed with knives, threatened a male store employee before fleeing on foot with a sum of cash and cigarettes. Both men are described as approximately 180cms tall with proportionate builds. Assault charges, Cunnamulla: A 16-year-old boy has been charged to appear in the Cunnamulla Children’s Court on November 18 in relation to an alleged assault on Saturday night. It is alleged about 7pm on Wicks Street the youth assaulted a 49-year-old man by striking him on the face once. The victim suffered a facial injury and was treated at the Cunnamulla Hospital. The boy will face one count of assault occasioning bodily harm.

Assault charges, Toowong: Police have charged two men with serious assault following an incident at Toowong last evening. Around 10pm police were called to Land Street following reports that an employee at a road work site had allegedly been assaulted.  Two local men, aged 21 and 17, were charged with assault occasioning bodily harm whilst in company. The 17-year-old was also charged with assault police, obstruct police and public nuisance. Both men are due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today. A 48-year-old man sustained facial bruising after allegedly being punched several times.
