Afternoon Round-up
Attempted armed robbery, Fortitude Valley: A man armed with a knife attempted to rob a Fortitude Valley motel yesterday afternoon. Around 5.30pm the man entered the Brunswick Street motel and engaged the manager in conversation before producing a knife and demanding money. The manager escaped to safety and the man ran from the scene empty handed. He was last seen running down Brunswick Street and is described as being of Islander in appearance with dark hair, approximately 160cm tall with a solid build and aged in his late 20’s to 30’s. He was wearing boardshorts, a t-shirt, sunglasses and had a light coloured towel over his head. Appeal for witnesses, fatal crash, Woombye: Police are seeking witnesses who may have seen a vehicle shortly before it crashed on the Bruce Highway at Keil Mountain at 12.35pm yesterday. The car had just entered the highway from the Nambour Connection Road on ramp when it crashed. A 74-year-old woman, the driver and sole occupant of the car died at the scene. The woman was driving a 1993 Toyota Corona sedan which was a greenish blue colour. Police would like to speak to anyone who believes they saw the vehicle around the time of the crash.
