Morning round up
Ram raids, Coorparoo and Camp Hill: Police are currently investigating two ram raids on Old Cleveland Road this morning. Initial information suggests that around 4.15am a 4WD vehicle smashed into the front windows of a convenience store at Coorparoo and a bottle shop at Camp Hill around 5 minutes later. The vehicle was left at the Camp Hill address before the suspects fled in a waiting car. No further details on the vehicle or suspects are available at this stage.
Sexual assault charges, Townsville: Police have charged a 17-year-old man with four counts of sexual assault after he allegedly sexually assaulted four women between September and November this year. Townsville police located the man a short time after receiving a report of a sexual assault offence in Ross River Road, Cranbrook around 2.50am on Monday. The man allegedly approached a 35-year-old woman and sexually assaulted her. The woman managed to escape by spraying him with a can of deodorant spray and punching him in the chest. He is due to appear Townsville Magistrates Court today.
Serious assault police, Wynnum: Police charged a 35-year-old man after an incident in Pine Street at Wynnum around 3pm yesterday. The Morningside man was allegedly attempting to assault two people known to him, when they sought refuge in the Wynnum police station. The man allegedly followed and when officers from the station attempted to speak to the man he allegedly became violent, punched two officers in the face, and twisted the arm of a third officer. The man was eventually restrained. He was charged with numerous charges including serious assault, obstruct police, unlicensed driving and possess dangerous drug. He is due to appear at Wynnum Magistrates Court today.
Building fire, Murarrie: Police are treating a fire which extensively damaged a Murarrie business yesterday as suspicious. Preliminary investigations indicate the fire began in the Paringa Road business sometime between 6pm-9.15pm. The demountable building was unoccupied at the time. The scene was secured overnight by police and will be examined today by scientific officers. Investigations into the cause of the fire are continuing.
