Murder charge, Aurukun: A 45-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a 41-year-old woman at Aurukun last night. Around 9.30pm police were called to an Aurukun residence and allegedly located the woman with injuries. She died a short time later. The Aurukun man is facing one count of murder and is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court tomorrow.
House fire, Armstrong Beach (near Sarina): Police are investigating a house fire at an address in Melba Street overnight. Police were called to the address around 3am and located the house engulfed in flames. The dwelling was totally destroyed by the fire, no other properties were affected. Investigations are continuing into the cause of the fire.
