Afternoon Round-up

Serious assault, Strathpine: Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed an assault at Strathpine around 2.30am today to contact them. Two men were walking on a service road, which runs parallel to Gympie Road, when they were approached by three males. One of the trio hit a 31-year-old Kallangur man in the head causing serious head injuries. The man was transported to the Royal Brisbane Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition. The three men fled on foot and are described as having dark to olive complexions. One man was approximately 190cms tall with a proportionate build and dark hair worn in a short pony tail. A second man is described as 175-180cm tall with a large build and short dark hair. No description of the third person is available at this stage. The incident occurred near the intersection with Samsonvale Road and police investigations are continuing. Assault, Surfers Paradise:  A 21-year-old Oxenford man was injured after allegedly being assaulted outside a licensed premises at Cavill Avenue, Surfers Paradise during the early hours of this morning.  The man received treatment at the Gold Coast Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. A 29-year-old Arundel man has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and is due to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court on December 3.
