Rail incident, Rockhampton: A Rockhampton man was issued with a Notice to Appear after the vehicle he was allegedly driving became stuck on a railway bridge at Rockhampton early this morning. Police attended the scene around 12.30am and discovered a 4WD wedged and stuck on rail tracks, approximately 70 metres from the southern end of the Alexander Rail Bridge. A man allegedly fled from police and was located after a short foot pursuit in a nearby park. Train services were halted whilst the vehicle was removed and the track re-opened around 5.30am. A 20-year-old man has been charged with a Transport Infrastructure (Rail) offence (driving vehicle on a bridge) and obstructing police. No one was injured during this incident and police investigations are continuing.
Sexual assault, Beenleigh: Police are searching for a man who sexually assaulted a 19-year-old woman at Beenleigh early yesterday morning. Just after midnight, November 20, the woman was walking near the railway bridge on Zander Street when she was grabbed by a man and dragged to a nearby area and sexually assaulted. The man is described as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in appearance with a thin build and wearing blue jeans, sports shoes, a dark coloured hooded jumper with his face covered by a bandana. Anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity or persons near the Beenleigh Railway Station or in the nearby vicinity is urged to contact police.
