Burglary, Varsity Lakes and Clear Island Waters: Police are currently investigating two burglaries which occurred on the Gold Coast overnight. At about 3.40am and 4.20am a man forced entry into two licensed premises at Varsity Lakes and Clear Island Waters stealing cash from poker and cigarette machines. The man fled from the premises with an unknown amount of money and a search by police failed to locate him. The man is described as being about 6 feet tall with a solid build wearing a black hooded jumper, grey long pants, gloves and white sandshoes.

Armed Robbery, Gladstone: Two people have been charged over an alleged armed robbery at a Hotel in Gladstone over night. Shortly after midnight it is alleged that two men armed with knives threatened staff at the rear of the hotel and stole a large sum of money. Police allegedly located the pair nearby a short time later. A 27-year-old Bundaberg man was charged with armed robbery, enter premises with intent, deprivation of liberty, unlawful use of motor vehicle and trespass. The man is due to appear at Rockhampton Magistrates Court today. A 13-year-old youth was also charged with robbery with actual violence whilst armed, enter premises with intent, deprivation of liberty, unlawful use of motor vehicle and trespass and will be dealt with under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act.
