Fatal industrial incident, High Range (Townsville): A 47-year-old man sustained fatal injuries at a remote area on Hervey Range Road, High Range, near Townsville yesterday. Initial investigations suggest the man was struck, around 1.45pm, with an arm from a crane he was operating to unload unknown equipment. Workplace Health and Safety will investigate the incident and police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
Car v pedestrian, Manoora: A 6-year-old girl suffered life-threatening injuries after a traffic incident at Manoora yesterday. Around 5pm the girl was struck by a car traveling on Murray Street, towards Pease Street. The girl was taken by Queensland Ambulance Service to Cairns Hospital, before being flown to Townsville Hospital for further treatment.
Chemist burglary, Burpengary: Police have charged two men, aged 34 and 22, after they allegedly broke into a chemist yesterday. Around 5.15am it is alleged the men forced entry into the chemist on Merewyn Street at Burpengary. The men were caught immediately after the alleged burglary by police with the help of a tyre deflation device. Both men were charged with enter premises with intent, stealing, possession of an implement and obstruct police. Both men are due to face Caboolture Magistrates Court today.
