Suspicious fire, Tingalpa: Police are treating a fire which extensively damaged a Tingalpa business last evening as suspicious. Emergency services were called to the Wynnum Road business around 8.30pm. The premises, which housed a convenience store at the front and a residence at the rear, was unoccupied at the time. The scene was secured overnight by police and examined today by scientific officers. Investigations into the cause of the blaze are continuing and police are asking anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24hrs a day.
Suspicious fire, Carole Park: Police investigating an overnight fire at a Carole Park business are treating it as suspicious. Between 5pm yesterday afternoon and 7am this morning fire completely destroyed the office building of a Mica Street company. The building, a demountable structure situated at the rear of the property and not easily visible from the roadway, was discovered burnt out this morning by workers. It is believed that heavy overnight rain may have assisted in extinguishing the fire. The cause of the blaze is being investigated. Robbery, Kirwan: Police are investigating a robbery that took place in Charles Street near the intersection with Bamford Lane at Kirwan this morning. Around 4am a man was approached by a group of three or four men who kicked and punched him to the ground. The attackers stole items from the man including an IPod and a sum of money. The man suffered injuries to his face and body. The attackers are described as being of Aboriginal or Torres Straight Island appearance with one of the men described as being in his mid 20’s, 170cm tall, solid build, and wearing a black hat and shirt. Another man is described as being in his mid 20’s, solid build, approximately 167cm tall and wearing jeans and no shirt.
