Serious crash, Ferny Grove: Police investigations will continue into a serious crash at Ferny Grove this afternoon. Preliminary investigations suggest that a 54-year-old woman was driving a Commodore in-bound on Samford Road and has moved into the right hand turning lane to turn right into Arbor Street. At that time it appears the driver has suffered from a medical condition and lost control of the vehicle which has continued through the intersection at speed. The passenger in the car a 34-year-old man has tried to regain control by grabbing the steering wheel and attempting to turn right. The car has mounted the footpath at the front of the BP Service Station and travelled through the garden beds. The man managed to steer the car away from the petrol bowsers but it continued on hitting a 16-year-old boy riding his bike causing his bike to hit a taxi parked at the bowsers. The car continued on colliding with the front wheel of another bike ridden by a 16-year-old boy. The bike was damaged but luckily the boy was unharmed. The car proceeded through the side fence of the BP service station, through a vacant lot and crashed into the side of the Ferny Grove Medical Centre. The driver and the rider of the bike were taken to Royal Brisbane Hospital. Their condition is not considered life threatening.
Car carrier theft, Eagle Farm: Police are currently at the scene of a car carrier theft at Eagle farm this evening. Preliminary information is that around 8.15pm a car carrier containing two cars was stolen from Eagle Farm. The driver has driven the vehicle along the Gateway Motorway side swiping at least six cars before abandoning the carrier in Ferguson Street, Northgate. The police dog unit is currently trying to track down the driver. Anyone with information which could assist police with their investigations or anyone involved in this incident should contact Hendra Police.
Rape arrest, Innisfail: A 29-year-old man will appear in the Innisfail Magistrates Court tomorrow charged with one charge each of assault with intent to rape, deprivation of liberty and rape. The charges relate to an incident where a 45-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in Rankin Street around 11.40pm last night.
