Evening round-up

Three vehicle crash, Cairns North: A 33-year-old male motorcyclist has a serious leg injury after his knee collided with the rear of a ute in a three vehicle crash this morning. The crash occurred around 11.45am near the intersection of Sheridan Street and Collins Avenue at Cairns North. Preliminary investigations indicate the motorcyclist was travelling north along Sheridan Street when he collided with the front of a sedan heading in the same direction. The motorcycle then collided with the rear of a ute, severely injuring the man’s leg. He was taken to the Cairns Base Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition. The road was reopened at 3pm. The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating. Appeal for witnesses - fatal crash, Nudgee: Police are appealing for information which could assist with the investigation into a fatal crash at Nudgee early today. A 39-year-old man was killed in a single vehicle crash on the Gateway Motorway about 2am. From initial investigations it is believed the vehicle has rolled several times before colliding with a sign post. Police are keen to speak to the driver of a light-coloured vehicle, seen travelling north on the motorway about the time of the crash. The light-coloured vehicle was seen to leave the motorway at Nudgee Road exit near the Shell service station. Attempted armed robbery charge, Eastern Heights: A second man has been charged following the attempted armed robbery of the Grange Road Convenience Store at Eastern Heights yesterday. The 19-year-old Bundamba man was charged with entering premises with intent and attempted armed robbery. He appeared in the Ipswich Magistrates Court today along with an 18-year-old Flinders View man and they are both due to reappear on December 23.
