Serious crash, Townsville: Police are currently at the scene of a serious two-vehicle crash which has left an 18-month-old girl with life-threatening injuries. The crash occurred at 8.30pm at the intersection of Ingham Road and Sturt Street, Townsville when a white sedan collided with the side of a red sedan. The young child was in the rear of the red car and was thrown from the vehicle upon impact. She was taken by ambulance to Townsville hospital suffering critical injuries. Also in the vehicle were a man, a woman and another child who were not injured. The female driver of the white sedan has been taken to hospital suffering shock. Both roads are presently closed while the Forensic Crash Unit conducts investigations at the scene. Robbery with violence, Surfers Paradise: A 70-year-old was dragged for about three metres along the ground after a man stole her handbag at Surfers Paradise yesterday. The woman was looking into a shop window on Surfers Paradise Boulevard about 12.20pm when the man approached her from behind. He grabbed hold of her bag that she had over her shoulder and tried to pull it off her. The woman instinctively grabbed the bag and the offender pulled her over, dragging her for a number of metres before the woman let go of the bag. Nearby workers gave chase but the man managed to escape and was last seen running towards Peninsular Drive. The woman sustained a fractured upper arm and was taken to Southport Hospital for treatment. Police will be looking at security footage of the area to obtain a description of the offender.
