Serious crash, Kenilworth: It is believed alcohol was a contributing factor in a serious crash at Kenilworth yesterday afternoon. About 1.10am a station wagon and a sedan collided head-on on Brooloo Kenilworth Road at Kenilworth. A passenger from the sedan, a 71-year-old woman, sustained life threatening injuries and was flown to the RBH. The driver of the sedan, a 75-year-old man, also sustained injuries and was admitted to hospital. Both are from Banksia Park. The driver of the station wagon, a 60-year-old Cambroon man, and a passenger, a 66-year-old Cambroon woman, both suffered minor injuries. Officers from the Forensic Crash Unit are investigating.

Drink drive charge, Fortitude Valley: A 42-year-old Highgate Hill man was charged with drink driving and had his license immediately suspended this morning. It is alleged the man crashed his vehicle around 3.45am at the intersection of the Bradfield Highway (Storey Bridge) and Martin Street, Fortitude Valley and then left the scene. He was located a short time later on the intersection of Wharf and Queen streets and allegedly blew .197%. He was charged with drink driving and is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on December 1.

Serious crash, Nebo: A 20-year-old Nebo man was thrown from the passenger seat of a ute after it rolled on the Fitzroy Developmental Road at Nebo around 10.45 last night. The driver of the vehicle, also a 20-year-old Nebo man, was not hurt in the crash. The injured man was airlifted to the Mackay Base Hospital and is in a serious but stable condition with a fractured skull and abrasions to his body. Investigations are continuing however alcohol and fatigue may have been a factor in the crash.

Vessel fire, Helensvale: Police are investigating the suspected arson of a 42 foot vessel that was moored at a private residence in Helensvale last night. The fire occurred just after 10pm at River Cove Drive and completely destroyed the vessel before causing serious damage to an 18 foot vessel that was moored nearby. The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage and police are appealing for anyone who may have seen suspicious behaviour in the area to contact them.

Robbery with violence, Mt Gravatt East: Police are investigating a robbery with violence at Mt Gravatt East where a 22-year-old woman was pushed over and had cash stolen. The woman told police she was walking on Creek Road around 7pm Thursday when she came across two females and a male fighting. One of the females bumped into her, causing her to fall to the ground. The woman tried to get back up but was pushed back down and had her handbag taken from her. The contents were then emptied onto the ground and cash stolen. The offenders were last seen walking towards Logan Road. They are described as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in appearance and around 15-years-old. The male is approximately 165cm tall, obese, wearing black shorts and a baseball cap. The females are between 160 and 170cm tall.
