Operation Cord charges, Townsville

Detectives from the Townsville investigative units and Tactical Crime Squad charged six people with 40 assault related charges after four separate incidents over the past two months.

It is alleged three people were assaulted at a residence at Cranbrook on October 3. One of which is believed to have suffered a fractured jaw.

On October 24 it is alleged people were assaulted at a residence at Annandale. A further four people were allegedly assaulted at a party on Stafford Street at Gulliver on Friday November 13.

Then three people were allegedly assaulted at a party on Riley Street at Kirwan on Saturday November 14.

Those charged range in age from 16 to 22 years and are all locals.

A 16-year-old teenage boy appeared in the Townsville Children’s Court yesterday afternoon charged with Grievous Bodily Harm and other offences and is remanded in custody until December 2.

A 22-year-old man appeared in the Townsville Magistrates Court on November 17 charged with Grievous Bodily Harm and other offences and has been remanded in custody until January 7, 2010.

The remaining people charged are in custody and will appear in the Townsville Magistrates court today.
