Serious assault police, Nudgee

Two people are due to face the Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning on numerous charges, including the serious assault of police.

The charges follow an incident on the Gateway Motorway at Nudgee about 1.20pm yesterday.

It is alleged a motorcycle ridden by a man and woman approached police conducting traffic control at a serious traffic incident in the southbound lanes.

It is alleged the rider was directed to stop, which he did for a short time before revving the bike and driving towards a police officer, hitting him and dragging him across the road.

The male rider was arrested after a foot chase.

The female pillion passenger has allegedly kicked two officers several times during her arrest.

A 29-year-old Redcliffe man has been charged with one count each of serious assault police, obstruct police, dangerous operation of a vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, burglary, and several traffic infringements including driving unlicensed.

A 34-year-old Deception Bay woman has been charged with two counts each of serious assault police and obstruct police and one count of unlawful use of a vehicle.
