Afternoon Round-up
Serious traffic crash, Elimbah: A 19-year-old local man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a traffic crash at Elimbah this morning. At about 8.30am a motorcycle and car collided on Twin View Road at Elimbah. The rider of the motorcycle sustained serious injuries to his legs and internal injuries and was flown to the Royal Brisbane Hospital for surgery. The driver and sole occupant of the car, a 64-year-old Elimbah man was not injured. The road was closed for several hours and police investigations are continuing.
Update, charges, Upper Coomera: Police have charged a 22-year-old man from Oxenford with a number of offences following an incident at Upper Coomera this morning. The man has been charged with fail to remain at the scene of an accident, contravene direction or requirement, fail to supply roadside breath specimen, fail to supply blood, drink driving (UIL) and two counts of obstruct police. The man is expected to appear in Southport Magistrates court on December 9.
Update, search for possible missing swimmer, Mermaid Beach: The search continues in waters off Mermaid Beach for a person who may be missing. A male was seen to enter the water around 6pm yesterday. Police believe clothing located at the beach, a navy blue t-shirt with a white Billabong motif on the front and black board shorts with light blue stripes, may belong to this person. Searching today has involved land, air and sea assets and will continue until last light today and re-commence tomorrow morning. The approximate age of the male seen to enter the water has been unable to be confirmed.
