Update Normanton fatal: Police Forensic Crash Unit officers will continue investigations into the cause of a single vehicle crash at Normanton yesterday. The crash occurred around 4.45pm on the Burke Developmental Road, approximately 12 kilometres east of the Normanton turnoff. Preliminary investigations indicate the car was travelling on a straight stretch of gravel road and has moved left into bull dust on the side of the road. The car appears to have travelled for about 70 meters and on exiting the bull dust has lurched violently to the right rolling a number of times before coming to rest on its roof. The driver, a 23-year-old Kelso man, died at the scene. The front seat passenger, a 32-year-old man was flown to Townsville Hospital with injuries to his head, chest and spine area. His injuries are not considered life threatening. A rear passenger, a 20-year-old man, was also flown to the Townsville Hospital as a precaution for tenderness to his spine and contusions to his head. Two other male passengers aged 23 and 21 suffered minor grazes.
Armed robbery, Spring Hill: Police are investigating the armed robbery of a pool kiosk at Spring Hill last night. Around 6.20pm a man entered the pool kiosk at the Gregory Terrace business and approached the two male employees demanding money from the register and safe. An amount of cash was handed over and the man also stole a quantity of lost property including jewellery and watches from the safe before running from the property. He is described as around 20 to 25-year-old, Caucasian, 188cm tall with a slim build, fair complexion, brown eyes and brown shoulder length hair. He was wearing dark coloured cargo pants, dark coloured long sleeved top and a red and white bandanna wrapped over his face.

Update: missing swimmer, Mermaid Waters: Police will continue the search this morning at first light for a man who may be missing after entering the beach at Mermaid Waters last night. It’s believed the man was last seen around 6pm. The two items of clothing pictured were located on the beach and police urge anyone who recognises them to contact Gold Coast Water police on 5509 5700 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. The man is described as Caucasian, approximately 40-years-old. No one has been reported missing.
Serious crash, South Maclean: The Logan Forensic Crash Unit will continue Investigations into a single vehicle crash at South Maclean overnight. Police came across the crash on Teviot Road around 10.20 last night after receiving calls complaining about hooning behaviour in the area. It is believed that two men were riding a motorcycle in the area when it crashed. One man has been taken to the Logan Hospital with life threatening head injuries. The second man received minor injuries.
Fatal off road crash, Springfield Central: A 21-year-old man has died after a trail bike crash at Springfield Central yesterday. Around 5pm three friends were trail bike riding in a cleared area of land leading into bushland behind the Orion Shopping Centre. Preliminary investigations indicate the three had been taking turns riding and when the man did not return his friends went to look for him. He was located conscious and returned to the car with his friends but his condition deteriorated on the way home and the QAS was called. He was transferred to the PA Hospital where he died around 6.45 last night. Inquiries are continuing.
Unlawful wounding charge, Rockhampton: A 24-year-old man will appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on December 7 charged with unlawful wounding. Around 10.50 last night two men were allegedly involved in a verbal argument at a William Street nightclub. The argument turned physical when the man allegedly thrust a glass into the side of a 24-year-old man’s face causing deep cuts to his face and neck. The man was taken to the Rockhampton Hospital where he was treated and released.
