Morning Round-up

Armed robbery, Gladstone: Police are investigating an armed robbery at a service station in Gladstone last night. Around 7.25pm a man entered the service station on Tooloola Street and produced a knife. He demanded money from the attendant, but he was refused. The man then stole some cigarettes and a loaf of bread and fled the store. He was last seen heading along Roberts Street. The man is described as being of Caucasian in appearance, around 170cm tall with a slim build. He was wearing a bandana, a grey shirt and black track suit pants. Drug charges, Woodridge: Police have charged a 38-year-old man after executing a search warrant at an address in Woodridge yesterday. Around 1.05pm police allegedly located a drug laboratory at the Kelvin Street address. The man was charged with five drug related offences and is due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.

Update: Fatal traffic crash, Beenleigh: Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal traffic crash on the M1 at Beenleigh last night. Around 9.40pm there was a two vehicle crash in between Beenliegh South on-ramp and Yatala off-ramp. An 18-year-old Hillcrest man driving one car has died at the scene and the 18-year-old female passenger in his car has been taken to Gold Coast Hospital, with what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries. The 31-year-old woman driving of the other car has also received what are believed to be non-life threatening and was taken to Gold Coast Hospital. Police Forensic Crash Unit is investigating. Anyone who may have seen the crash or seen a stationary white Toyota Corolla on the left hand side of the roadway is urged to contact the Logan Communication Centre on 3801 0780.
