Afternoon Round-up

Break and enter, Nerang: Investigations have commenced into the break and enter of a motorbike store on Lawrence Drive in Nerang overnight. It is believed a number of men have used a stolen vehicle to smash through the glass doors of the premises around 2.30am. Once they gained entry to the store they removed a number of bikes which appear to have been loaded into a separate vehicle, possibly a white van, parked nearby. The stolen vehicle was located a short time later.  The offenders are described as being young Caucasian males and investigations are continuing.

Stolen property from vehicles, Douglas (Townsville): Townsville police would like to remind all car owners to lock their vehicles and where possible park them off the street overnight. Sixteen vehicles from outside of addresses in Douglas were entered in the last 48 hours and in all cases the vehicles were not secured. Four teenagers are currently assisting police with their inquiries into the break and enter of the cars. Police are reminding members of the community to be vigilant by locking vehicles and ensuring that nothing of value is left inside the car, in particular car keys, electronic equipment and wallets. Investigations are continuing.

Truck crash, Spider Creek (south of Sarina):  Police are investigating a serious truck rollover on the Bruce Highway at Spider Creek this morning. Police were called to the crash around 3.45am after receiving reports that the truck had rolled approximately 50km south of Sarina. The 27-year-old male driver suffered serious head injuries and was airlifted to the Mackay Base Hospital where he remains in a serious condition. The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
