Fatal crash, Mt Isa: Police are investigating a single vehicle motorcycle crash this morning in Mt Isa that has killed a man in his 20’s. It is believed the man was traveling along the roadway when for unknown reasons he has collided with a parked car in a driveway. Emergency Services attended the scene but the man was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later. The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
Fatal crash, Kuttabul: The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the fatal crash where a woman in her 50’s died after being struck by a car on the Bruce Highway at Jolimont Creek, Kuttabul around 3.30am. Police initially received reports that a woman was allegedly standing on the highway and not attempting to avoid oncoming traffic. A short time later police received reports that a woman was found deceased at the location. A man is currently assisting police with their investigation.
House fire, Morayfield: Police are investigating a serious house fire that has left a 28-year-old man with significant injuries. Police were notified of the fire around 4.50am when a neighbour saw smoke coming from the house. The neighbour woke the occupants and all three were able to be removed from the dwelling. A 21-year-old woman and a 2-year-old boy received minor burns and were treated at the Caboolture Hospital before being taken to the Royal Brisbane Hospital where they remain in stable conditions. The 28-year-old man received extensive injures and has been transported to the Royal Brisbane Hospital where he remains in a critical conditions.
Local flooding in Brisbane, Ipswich and Gold Coast: Police wish to remind all motorists to take care and drive to the conditions of the road. Motorists and members of the public are reminded of the hazardous and unpredictable nature of flood waters and the dangers associated with storm debris. We urge everyone to travel with extreme caution and limit non essential travel in flood affected areas where possible. Widdop Street at Hendra is closed to all motorists as there is approximately one meter of water on the road. The Rocklea, Moorooka and Salisbury areas are also experiencing localised flooding and motorists are urged to delay non essential travel. Strathpine and other suburbs nearby are experiencing some issues and the roads are being closely monitored. Motorists are also urged to avoid the bridge at Lekme Road in Taigum as water is rising quickly.
