Death investigation, Shorncliffe
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 12-year-old boy this morning.
Preliminary investigations indicate that two male students from St Patrick’s College, Park Parade, Shorncliffe were involved in an altercation at the school around 8.15am.
During the altercation a 12-year-old boy sustained critical injuries and was transported to the Royal Children’s Hospital where he passed away.
A 13-year-old boy was located a short time later in the nearby vicinity with a minor wound which required hospital treatment. This boy is currently assisting police with their inquiries.
No one else was injured during the incident.
Police investigations are continuing.
