Grievous bodily harm, Maroochydore: A 20-year-old Maroochydore man sustained a serious eye injury after allegedly being assaulted in a licensed premises on Main Road, Maroochydore overnight. It will be alleged that two men became involved in an altercation shortly before 11pm last night with the victim sustaining a laceration below his right eye.  A 30-year-old Maroochydore man has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm and is due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court today. 

Serious traffic crash, Palmview:  Shortly after midnight (today) police were advised of a single vehicle traffic crash on Glenview Road, Palmview. Initial investigations indicate that the car left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver, a 22-year-old Dalby man, was trapped and sustained serious injuries and had to be cut from the vehicle. A 17-year-old Glass House Mountains woman also sustained serious head injuries. Both injured people were transported to Nambour Hospital. Three other people in the vehicle, a 16-year-old boy, a 17-year-old Glenview man and a 17-year old Dalby woman received unknown injuries but these are not believed to be serious. The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Assault charge, Proserpine: Police charged a 41-year-old Proserpine man with assault occasioning bodily harm and enter dwelling and steal following an early morning incident at Proserpine. It is alleged a man entered a room of a hotel located on Main Street around 3.30am and stole a mobile phone. The male occupant of the room woke up to allegedly find a man inside with his phone. A scuffle ensued during which time the 51-year-old victim was allegedly punched in the head, sustaining bruising and swelling to his face and nose. The 41-year-old is due to appear in the Proserpine Magistrates Court on March 15.

Armed robbery, Moorooka: Police are investigating the overnight robbery of a convenience store at Moorooka. Around 3.30am a man, believed to be armed with some type of implement or weapon, entered the Beaudesert Road store and stole cash and cigarettes before fleeing. The man is described as possibly African in appearance, 165cms tall with a proportionate build and was wearing dark jeans, dark shoes and a white and black striped shirt. The man had a cloth covering his head and another one concealing some time of implement in his hand. No one was injured and police investigations are continuing.
