Unlawful wounding charges, Macleay Island: A 44-year-old Macleay Island man allegedly sustained a stab wound after a disturbance on Macleay Island overnight. It will be alleged that a 41-year-old Macleay Island woman stabbed the man following an altercation. The man was taken to the Royal Brisbane Hospital where he is reported to be in a critical but stable condition. The woman has been charged with one count of unlawful wounding and bailed to appear at the Cleveland Magistrates Court on March 1.
Grievous bodily harm charges, Burleigh Heads: A 33-year-old man has been charged following the alleged assault of woman in her 40’s. It is alleged police were called to the address in relation to a disturbance and when they arrived they allegedly located the woman with significant injuries. She was transported to the Gold Coast Hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition. The man has been charged with one count each of grievous bodily harm, possess a dangerous drug and possess utensils. He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on February 8.
Serious assault of police officer and taser deployment, Deception Bay: A man and a woman have been charged following an incident at a Deception Bay address where two officers were seriously assaulted. Police were last night called to the Gregory Avenue address in relation to a disturbance. When they arrived the man allegedly became violent and resisted arrest by punching and kicking resulting in one officer being knocked unconscious. During this time it is alleged the woman also became violent attempting to assault the senior constable. The senior constable was forced to deploy his taser after the man allegedly continued to kick the unconscious constable to the head. The deployment of the taser allegedly allowed the officer to apprehend the man and call for back up. The 24-year-old man and the 21-year-old woman have been charged with one count each of serious assault, assault police and obstruct police. They will both appear in the Redcliffe Magistrates Court on February 8. Both officers were treated for their injuries and have been released from hospital. The officer who was knocked unconscious is suffering bruising to his face, head and lacerations to his upper body.
Charges, Hendon (near Warwick): Police have charged a 51-year-old man with several offences following an incident earlier today. Around 9am police located a vehicle driving in Goomburra Street, Hendon that was allegedly involved in an earlier road rage incident in Alexandria Drive, Warwick in which a man allegedly punched another man and kicked his vehicle. Police followed behind the car and indicated for the driver to stop. It will be alleged the driver stopped and reversed his vehicle into the police car causing substantial damage. The man then allegedly threw metal objects at the police cars hitting the windscreen causing it to shatter. Officers managed to apprehend the man, and he allegedly caused a minor laceration to an officer’s abdominal area. No one else was injured during the incident. The Kearny Springs man was charged with numerous charges including dangerous operations of a vehicle, acts intended to cause grievously bodily harm and wilful damage of police property. He is due to appear in the Warwick Magistrates Court on February 8.
