Sexual assault, Condon: Police are appealing for public assistance after a woman was sexually assaulted in Condon last night. The woman was exercising along a pathway near Vickers Bridge at Condon around 7pm when she was approached by a man from behind. She was assaulted, knocked to the ground and further sexually assault leaving her with serious injuries. Another jogger rendered assistance to the woman and called QAS and police. The man is described as being aged between 17 and 20, with a dark complexion, wearing a singlet, white shorts, white socks and a baseball cap. Police are appealing for anyone who was exercising near this area who may have seen this man to contact Crime Stoppers or the Townsville Criminal Investigation Branch.
Serious crash, Magnetic Island: Police are investigating a serious single vehicle crash at Magnetic Island early this morning. It is believed the vehicle was travelling along Mandalay Avenue when the vehicle rolled resulting in serious injuries to the driver and sole occupant. The victim, a 35-year-old man, was taken to the Magnetic Island Hospital before he was transported to the Townsville Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Serious crash, Roma: Police are investigating a serious single vehicle crash near Roma yesterday afternoon. About 3.10pm on the Carnarvon Highway a single vehicle has left the road and rolled a number of times .The 42-year-old male driver and sole occupant was thrown from the vehicle. He was transported to the Roma Hospital with serious injuries and is in a critical but stable condition. Initial investigations indicate that speed may have been a contributing factor.
