Morning Round-up

Rescue, Rosedale (Gladstone): Police are appealing for motorists in the Gladstone area to take care on water affected roads after a man and woman were rescued at Rosedale overnight. About 11.30pm police were notified of a car which had driven into water on the Essendeen Bridge on Tablelands Road at Rosedale. When police arrived the vehicle was completely submerged in the flowing water and the two occupants were on the roof and clinging to a small tree. SES retrieved the pair in a boat and QAS transported them to Bundaberg. The man and woman, both aged 26, are Korean nationals. Neither is believed to have been injured.

Turtles get a police escort, Scarborough: Police last night took a little extra care with some wayward turtle hatchlings found wandering the streets at Scarborough. About 10.50pm police patrolling near Donkin Street and Flinders Parade came across numerous tiny turtles on the road. The officers then assisted local community members to guide the hatchlings to the waters edge, having the last of them on their way by about 12.30am. The turtles were from a nearby rookery.
