Queensland Police would like to remind the public of the current Tsunami warning that is in place on the eastern seaboard of Australia.

Several Government agencies, including the Department of Communty Safety, Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology and the Joint Australian Tsunami Warning Centre and have already issued warnings.

There is a possibility of dangerous waves, strong ocean currents and foreshore flooding throughout this morning.

Particular threatened areas extend from Point Danger to St Lawrence, including Moreton Bay and Hervey Bay.

Cleveland Point and Wellington Point in Brisbane have been closed.

Sea level observations have confirmed a tsunami has been generated.

Media, in particular radio stations are urged to publish this announcement immediately.
