Update: Police officer injured in accidental discharge
The Senior Constable from Metropolitan North Police Region injured yesterday afternoon by an accidental discharge of a service firearm will have surgery at a private clinic.
The 41-year-old man is believed to not have suffered any permanent damage and is expected to make a full recovery.
Initial information indicates that the officer was at the gun safe at Albany Creek Police Station when a firearm discharged, causing shrapnel wounds to his face.
Ethical Standards Command is investigating the incident.
