Traffic crash, Doonan: Police are investigating a crash on the Noosa-Eumundi Road that left a 25-year-old with serious facial injuries. Initial information suggests around 6.30 last night a utility was stationary facing southbound on Noosa-Eumundi Road waiting to turn right into Lenehans Lane when an oncoming sedan veered right and crashed head on into the stationary vehicle. The 25-year-old driver of the sedan was transported to Noosa Hospital before being airlifted to the Royal Brisbane Hospital with serious facial fractures. The driver of the utility was also treated at the Noosa Hospital for non life-threatening injuries.
Serious assault, Fortitude Valley: Police are investigating the assault of a 19-year-old female employee of a hotel on Ann Street Fortitude Valley early this morning. Initial information suggests that around 1.20am, after having an argument with an employee, a male patron threw a glass at a male employee which bounced off him, striking a female employee standing nearby cutting her top lip. The 19-year-old employee was treated at the Royal Brisbane Hospital. A 19-year-old man is currently assisting police with their inquiries.
Armed robbery, Bundall: Police are investigating the armed robbery of a liquor store at a shopping centre on Bundall Road last night. Around 9pm a man entered the store allegedly armed with a knife, threatened the employee and demanded money. The man left on foot in an unknown direction with an amount of cash. He is described as Maori in appearance, aged in his early to mid 20s, approximately 187cms tall with a medium build and black hair. He was wearing a black long-sleeved jumper, three quarter length dark blue shorts, white sneakers and a white baseball cap. No one was injured in the incident.
Traffic crash, Southport: A 26-year-old man suffered non life-threatening injuries after being struck by a bus at the intersection of Nind and Scarborough streets around 10.30 last night. Initial information suggests the man was crossing in compliance with the walk signal when a bus turning right into Nind Street failed to see him and struck him as he crossed the east bound lane of Nind Street. Investigations are continuing.
Seige, Stockleigh: A 49-year-old man is assisting police with investigations following a four hour siege at Stockleigh last night. Around 5pm, police were called to a Bamsey Road address after reports a man was creating a disturbance. The man allegedly refused to leave the residence when police arrived but was subsequently detained around 9pm. There were no injuries and the man eventually surrendered without further incident.
Plane crash, Green Island (Cairns): Police are investigating a sea plane crash near Green Island that occurred yesterday afternoon. Around 4.30pm, a sea plane carrying seven people has crashed into the water shortly after take off, approximately one mile north east of the island. No one was injured during the incident.
