Armed robbery charges, Earlville: An 18-year-old Gordonvale man has been charged with armed robbery after an Earlville shop was allegedly robbed early this morning. Around 2 a man entered the Mulgrave Road business allegedly carrying a baseball bat and demanded cash from an attendant before fleeing. No one was injured. The man is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates court tomorrow.

Fatal pedestrian incident, Glendon: A man aged in his 40’s died this morning after he was struck by a truck at Glenden. The incident occurred around 10.45 at the intersection of Collinsville Elphinstone Road and Perry Road. The man, who was working at this location, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Workplace Health and Safety have been advised and police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
