Cloncurry property crime operation
Cloncurry police are currently performing a three-week operation targeting property crime and other offences within the Cloncurry area.
The operation, titled NR Isa Noel, comes on the back of consultation with local business owners and the wider community and is featuring a number of proactive strategies aimed at preventing crime.
Primarily the operation has sought to increase community awareness of strategies and prevention activities with the aim of building positive policing relationships in the area.
Cloncurry Officer in Charge Acting Sergeant Bill Layt said the operation had already yielded positive results and was an important step in continuing the protection of the local community.
“Operation NR Isa Noel is about providing the community with additional support and protection,” Acting Sergeant Layt said.
“By putting in place a variety of proactive policing strategies, the Queensland Police Service is aiming to prevent crime before it occurs.
“Above all though, this operation is about police working with the Cloncurry community, for the community, and in the process not only hearing and addressing their concerns, but also improving key working relationships into the future,” he said.
During the operation policing numbers within Cloncurry will be increased through the assistance of officers from Mount Isa Criminal Investigation Branch, Child Protection Investigation Unit, Tactical Crime and Traffic Branch.
