Police confirm death toll rise in Queensland floods
The Queensland Police Service sadly advises that the death toll as a result of floods in Queensland since January 10 has risen to 20.
A man in his 50s, who was located in Karrabin near Ipswich on January 12, has today been added to the toll. Following investigations, the man’s death is now considered to be related to the floods.
Police have also located the body of a man in a field at Grantham this morning. No further details can be confirmed at this stage.
The amount of missing people is now 12 after police located a man in Willowburn Park at Toowoomba this morning.
It was originally thought the man was in Willowburn Park when the floods hit Toowoomba. However, after extensive police inquiries it was discovered that the man was safe and well in a different location when floods hit the park.
The search for the missing people is continuing.
Since January 10, the Queensland Police Service has located 410 people who had been reported as missing.
