Evening Round-Up

Update – search and rescue, Gladstone:  The search for a man missing in the Boyne River since Saturday will resume again in the morning.  A search today involving water police, two rescue helicopters, vessels from volunteer marine rescue, SES and surf life savers has not located any sign of the man.  Beach patrols will continue through the night.  The marine search is to resume at 6am tomorrow and will include the police divers.

Armed robbery, Labrador:  Police are investigating the armed robbery of a Labrador convenience store this evening.  Around 6.45 a man entered the Brisbane Road store armed with a knife and demanded money.  After receiving an undisclosed sum of money he ran from the store and was last seen on Billington Street.  The attendant was not harmed.  The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 185cm tall and of skinny build.  He was wearing a black baseball cap, white and black shirt, black shorts, white shoes and sunglasses.  Anyone with information which could assist police with their investigations should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24hrs a day.

Armed robbery, Chermside:  A man entered a closed supermarket at Chermside armed with a knife shortly after 6 this evening.  After entering the Gympie Road store he threatened two staff members, a man and a woman, demanding money.  The man followed the two staff members into an office where he was handed an undisclosed amount of money.  The man then forced the male staff member to sit on a chair and tied his hands, before directing both staff members to lay on the ground as he left the store.  Neither attendant was injured.  The man was last seen running down a lane to Ethel Street.  He is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, of thin build and was wearing a dark jacket, light blue shorts and white shoes.  Anyone with information which could assist police with their investigations should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24hrs a day.
