Floodwaters on the rise Dalby
A Local Disaster Management centre has been set up at the Dalby Agricultural College for residents of Dalby following reports of heavy rainfall in the catchment area overnight.
Police and SES have conducted door knocks in the area advising residents that a further three metres of waters is expected by 6am, which will put a number of yards under water and possibly inundate some houses.
There are some suggestions that the water may reach as high as 3.5metres. Already 12 inches of water is flowing through Russell Street and adjoining Acacia Avenue. On the southern side of town, water from the Myall Creek is flowing onto the Golf Course.
Residents are advised to contact the Local Disaster Management Centre on 4662 6666 in the first instance, in which they will be directed to the Dalby Show Grounds where vehicles will be left on higher ground.
It is then anticipated residents will be ferried to the Agricultural Centre. Residents are encouraged to bring their emergency kits (containing essentials such as torches, batteries, some food and the essentials including linen, a sleeping bag and pillow and any required medication.
Residents with pets are encouraged to try and house their animals with friends or family on higher ground, however all efforts will be made to accommodate pets.
