Cochlea implant theft, Mooloolaba
Police are appealing for information from the public following the theft of a bag from Mooloolaba yesterday that contained a young child’s Cochlea implant.
Around 4.30pm, the child was at Mooloolaba beach with family and friends when two males stole his mother’s bag while they were swimming.
The family is appealing for the implant to be returned as the item is of no value to anyone else and will be difficult to replace due to the high financial cost of the technology.
An unknown male initially chased down the two men and confronted them, however, he was unable to retrieve the property.
The two men are both described as being approximately 18-years-old with short dark hair and were wearing only board shorts. The carry bag stolen was made of multi-coloured canvas.
Police are appealing for the unknown male that attempted to retrieve the bag at the beach to come forward and for anyone from the public with information to come forward.
