Assault and robbery, Forest Lake

Police are appealing for information following the assault and robbery of an 18-year-old Forest Lake woman yesterday afternoon.

Around 5pm the woman was walking through the car park area of a shopping centre on Grand Avenue at Forest Lake when she walked past a group of two women and a man.

They were described as being Aboriginal in appearance, one woman was larger build and wearing pink and orange coloured jumper. The second woman was described as being thin build and wearing a black singlet top.

The group spoke to the Forrest Lake woman and asked for money for a bus fare, the woman handed over some coins and then walked away.

The group followed her, asked for more money and became threatening before the woman told them to leave.

It is believed that the woman appealed to a motorist in the car park to help but the car did not stop.

One of the women in the group hit the Forest Lake woman several times in the head and the other female grabbed her wallet.

The group then walked down a staircase towards Catelina Crescent.

The Forest Lake woman sustained swelling injury to the left side of her head and was transported by QAS to the Wesley Hospital.

Anyone with further information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24hrs a day.
