Two 18-year-old fishermen from Weipa have been found safe and well after becoming stranded on the Archer River on Cape York around 11am this morning.

The men’s tinny flipped over after colliding with a log in the Archer River near the junction with Piccaninny Creek.

They decided to start walking inland about 500 metres from the river to avoid crocodiles.
