Evade police, Toowoomba

Police have charged two people following investigations surrounding a traffic crash in Toowoomba last night.

Toowoomba Police attempted to intercept a black sedan in Jellicoe Street but the car accelerated away.

Police lost sight of the car for a short time before finding it had crashed into a building on the corner of Jellicoe and Gordon streets.

A man alleged to have been driving the car sustained suspected spinal injuries and was transported to Toowoomba Base Hospital. He has since been taken to The Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Police allegedly located property including a firearm and ammunition in the vehicle.

A 23-year-old Gold Coast woman who was allegedly a passenger in the vehicle was charged with two counts of possession of a dangerous drug, possession of a drug utensil and possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence. She is due to appear in Toowoomba Court on Monday.

A 40-year-old Gold Coast man was issued a notice to appear for charges relating to possession of a dangerous drug, evade police, obstruct police and numerous weapons offences. The man is due to appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on October 18.

Police investigations are continuing.
