Task Force Resolve Cleveland arrest

Officers from State Crime Operations Task Force Resolve investigating a series of unsolved violent armed robberies committed on the Gold Coast and South East Queensland, supported by officers from the Special Emergency Response Team yesterday raided a unit at Cleveland and arrested a 34-year-old man.

The man was wanted on a return to prison warrant for a breach of his parole on charges of going armed in public. The 34-year-old will appear in the Cleveland Magistrates Court this morning on drug and traffic charges.

Detective Superintendent John Sheppard from State Crime Operations said that the man was a person of interest in the taskforce’s ongoing investigations.

“We continue to carry out certain lines of inquiry that we are hopeful to finalise within the next few weeks, after which we may be in a position to prefer further charges.

“The arrest of this man and his return to prison is a positive step not only in so far as our investigations are concerned but also lessens the risk to which the community might otherwise be exposed.” said Detective Superintendent Sheppard.

Anyone with information which could assist police with their investigations should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24hrs a day.
