Armed robbery, Cairns

Police have charged a 17-year-old Bentley Park woman following a series of incidents in North Queensland overnight.

It is alleged the woman threatened the owner of a vehicle with a knife in Cairns before stealing the vehicle and driving south on the Bruce Highway.

It is also alleged the woman crashed into a stationary police vehicle in Ingham while evading a number of attempted police intercepts along the highway.

The 17-year-old has been charged with 17 offences including one count of armed robbery, one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, three counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle, two counts of serious assault police, one count of obstruct police, one count of wilful damage of police property and three counts of failing to stop motor vehicle.

She is due to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court today.
